Featuring Norah Jones

I’m sure you all remember Norah Jones. I fell in love with her jazz-loungey voice when her first album came out in 2002 featuring “Come Away With Me” and “Don’t Know Why.” Her mellow tones are the perfect accompaniment to a glass of wine at the end of the day, and her touching lyrics have induced a number of rare, quiet moments in my life. Music like hers forces us slightly controlling types to let go for a moment and get in touch with our emotions. That’s not just the pregnancy hormones talking. I swear, Norah Jones can bring a peaceful feeling into any hectic moment.

Since her wildly successful debut, she’s released two more albums and recently came out with “Featuring,” which pairs her melodic voice with a number of other music greats. There’s something for every musical taste, featuring artists such as Outkast, Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, The Foo Fighters, Belle & Sebastian, Ryan Adams and more. I’ve noticed that a lot of artists tend to lose their own identity in compilations like this, but Norah Jones stay true to her roots with the slow, smooth songs we’ve come to expect from her.

Copies of Norah Jones “Featuring” will likely be making their way into my sister’s, mom’s, and close girlfriends’ gifts…perhaps with some bubble bath and candles so they can take a moment to unwind and enjoy it the way I do.
