Baby Easter Basket

With Easter just around the corner and our baby due in a little over a week, Nate and I thought it would be fun to create a baby-themed Easter basket. So when Smart & Final gave me the opportunity to check out their Easter products as part of their #SFSmarties program, I jumped at the chance!

Smart & Final has a ton of goodies to help you construct your own Easter basket, from candy to eggs and baskets. Check out some of their selection. How cute is that little deviled egg holder?!

But we’re on a mission to make a baby-themed basket, so I hunted down the baby aisle. They have tons of baby goods including diapers and formula. I picked out some baby food and wipes for my basket. A lot of people don’t think to give canned baby food as a baby gift, but it’s actually very practical and has a really long shelf life, so it can safely be given and used later, when the baby is able to transition to solid foods.

Plastic containers are another practical baby gift, as all parents inevitably end up carting around snacks and cereal in them when the baby gets a little older. I like that Smart & Final offers BPA-free containers. It can be difficult to find plastic items for baby that don’t have all kinds of chemicals in them.

I was really excited to find Dreft at Smart & Final. Another practical baby item, new parents go through tons of laundry soap constantly washing baby’s clothes.

It was a little difficult to fit all my items into the Easter basket, but I made it work. I removed the plastic container lids and set them underneath the diaper wipes, piling baby food into various empty spaces. I always prefer to get a smaller basket that will look over-filled with items as opposed to a larger basket that ends up making its contents look inadequate. It’s all about the Easter basket psychology, here!

Next, I wrapped the Easter basket using plastic kitchen wrap from Smart & Final. This is a little tricky, so I made a video explaining how to get the plastic wrap onto the basket:

Wow, I’m huge. Hopefully my giant belly didn’t distract you from the basket-making. I am SO done with being pregnant. Can you tell?

Here’s our completed baby Easter basket. It seems like everyone is pregnant right now, and this would make a perfect baby gift for an expecting mom. All the items here were only about $25, but the presentation is adorable and the fact that everything in it is truly useful makes this an excellent baby-themed Easter basket that parents will really appreciate. Trust me, I know!
