San Diego Day Trip: Julian

My dad was in town visiting last week, so we got to play tourist and go see all the sights. We took a fun day trip from San Diego to Julian, a quaint tourist destination about an hour into the eastern mountains. The town is known for their cute shops and world-famous apple pie.

The views on the ride up there make the trip well worthwhile on their own. If you get a chance to go, you should definitely check out the cool old books at Julian Book House and the funky collectibles at A Rose Path boutique. We also liked the classic candy at The Candy Basket, homemade goodies at Julian Cider Mill and, of course, pie at Julian Pie Company. Surprisingly though, our favorite was not the apple. It was unanimous: boysenberry all the way!

LOL…Julian looks like Texas (only cooler, I imagine).

The only part of Texas I’ve been to that I can remember is El Paso, and it did NOT look like Julian! Lol. I think I need to explore Texas a little more.

We use to go to Julian when I was a kid. What great memories I have of sipping warm apple cider and visiting all the antique shops.

That reminds me…apple-picking season is coming up!

aww, I love it!  When we were stationed at MCAS Miramar, we lived in Ramona and would often go up to Julian.

There was a general store there back then (1998-2001), that had the best jams & jellies!

Miramar is right near us! The air show’s been going on the last few days and poor Some Boy gets totally freaked out every time one of the jets goes over.
