Nate and I often daydream about getting a fixer-upper and making it our own, or buying a big plot of land out in the country and customizing our dream home. Sometimes, out at restaurants, we pick apart the structure and decide on which elements we’d include in our fantasy house. Just today, I caught Nate swinging our kitchen door back and forth and fantasizing about custom cabinetry. I’ll admit, home renovations are something of an obsession for us. I get the feeling we’re not alone.

The HouseLogic Boost Your Roost home renovation contest starts today. We’re looking for a great idea for a home improvement project that will help you get the most enjoyment out of your home. Whether it’s sprucing up your kitchen or building a patio for those summer cookouts, we want take your dreams and turn them into reality.
To enter the home renovation contest:
- Send me (somedayilllearn@gmail.com) a description (up to 300 words) of a room or area of your home that you would renovate within a $20,000 budget. Remember to include why this home improvement is so important to you and how it will bring more enjoyment to you, your family and friends.
- Include at least one photo (five photos max). You can also include drawings or videos if you like! Feel free to post photos or videos on public sharing sites or your blog and send me links.
I’ll pick the best submission, which will then be one of six finalists to be voted on by the public to see who will win the $20,000 renovation. Myself and five other bloggers are helping HouseLogic pick the finalists, so your chances are really good.

I really would like to win this. My downstairs is a disaster. Never tried this before, but it’s worth a shot.
You and your husband sound like me and mine, lol. We used to daydream of home renovations, and always picked apart restaurants. Then we bought our first home, and got into the thick of renovations. There’s really not much left to do here, except the lawn and shed.
