Dining out with Family
Oh man, this week has been a doozy. A trip to Vegas, a new house, new puppy, visitors galore. Not to mention the fact that I’m eight months pregnant. I am EXHAUSTED. I had the best-laid plans to go dining out with family last night, and things went a little bit awry. We got held up at Home Depot way longer than expected and ran out of time to even change out of our grimy moving clothes, Some Boy totally soaked his pants (hence the pantless photo above) and threw a teething fit and utterly refused to give up a toothbrush that he’s been oddly attached to for the last few days. At least he’s learning good hygiene.
But these guys have worked their dang butts off and I was determined to get them a good restaurant-cooked meal (yeah, there was NO way I was cooking after all this). I’m of the firm belief that dining out with family should be a nice experience and we shouldn’t necessarily be relegated to fast food just because we have an upset toddler and we’re looking a little shabby. Thankfully, the good people at Olive Garden never seem to judge whatever state we come in. Dining out with family is easy, inexpensive, nice and non-stressful there. It’s kind of become our go-to place.
We actually have a bizarre amount of family memories at Olive Garden, come to think of it. Some Boy drank out of a straw for the first time at Olive Garden. He colored with crayons there for the first time last night.
And the food. It’s just downright good comfort food, and often reminds me of something I would make for the family at home.
Check out Olive Garden’s latest promotion, running now through 11/18/12!
Olive Garden was having a special when we went last night that I totally took advantage of. For $12.95 guests can have one entrée in-restaurant and take another entrée to go. So that’s TWO nights in a row I don’t have to cook. Score! I often order big dishes just so I’ll have some to take home, so this is perfect for me. Choices in the restaurant include unlimited soup or salad, and breadsticks along with one of the below five entrees:
- New! Mezzaluna Ravioli with Five Cheese Sauce
- New! Lasagna Rollata with Meat Sauce and Alfredo
- New! Spaghetti with Four Cheese Meat Sauce
- Fettuccinne Alfredo
- Five Cheese Ziti Al Forno
And guests get to take home any one of the above five entrees in “To Go” packaging. I got the Lasagna Rollata which was delicious, and the Fettuccine Alfredo that I’m totally looking forward to for dinner tonight. For more information about Dinner Today & Dinner Tomorrow, visit OliveGarden.com.

Nom nom – I ♥ Olive Garden so much – I’m saving the last round of sunday coupons for my birthday dinner next month ;)
Mmm that’ll be a fantastic birthday dinner!
I just wish they had Lasagna for take out and Spaghetti and I would be all over but the items above neither my husband or I would eat. Other than that though I love the ideal and wish more restaurants would do it.
They do have the lasagna rollata (that’s what I got…it’s basically lasagna rolled up) and spaghetti with four cheese meat sauce, both available for take-out as part of the promotion. I love both of those!
