Craft time was one of my favorite activities when I was a kid. My mom was extremely encouraging. She helped me cut, glue and add sparkly glitter to everything. I could often be found romping around in a makeshift crown or intricate paper chain jewelry. Now, my oldest kid definitely takes after me when it comes to hands-on learning.
I love seeing his eyes light up as he discovers that he can create things with basic supplies, forming shapes from construction paper and piecing them together with glue. Our school shopping list includes creative essentials that give him the freedom to explore: school glue, glue sticks, safe scissors, colorful crayons and washable markers as well as pouches and backpacks to keep it all together.
Glue Stick Back to School Printable
When I taught 3rd grade I saw a couple parents include special notes and back to school printables with their kids' supplies.
